Judith Uehling was born in Chicago and majored in studio art at Smith College with a significant emphasis in art history. She also attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In Madison, Wisconsin, Uehling began her artistic career in printmaking. Supported by various grants, she attended print workshops in London, Oslo, and Aberdeen. Since moving to London in the early 80’s and then to Berlin in the early 90’s, she has focused on painting. Uehling has had solo exhibitions in the Balkans, Germany, Belgrade and New York and has had work in almost all of the major international print biennales. Among other accolades, she has been an award winner at the International Exhibition of Drawing in Rijeka. Uehling’s work is represented in over thirty public and corporate collections from the Victoria & Albert Museum to the Museum of the City of New York.
